72 Series UTE Tray — Premium Modular Flatbed System for Mid‑Size Trucks
Summit Expedition Truck’s 72 Series aluminum tray system is built for mid‑size North American trucks and engineered in a way no other tray on the market is. This isn’t a universal flatbed. It’s a vehicle‑specific mounting system paired with three tray sizes and multiple lengths, giving you a true modular platform that fits your truck — not the other way around.
Why the 72 Series Is Different
Most trays force you into one size, one layout, one configuration. The 72 Series doesn’t. Our engineered mounting system is designed for:
Crew‑Cab/Short Bed (CCSB)
Double‑Cab/Long Bed (DCLB)
Double‑Cab/Short Bed (DCSB)
Available widths: 72" (1828mm) and 76" (1930mm) Available lengths: 5 ft, 6 ft, and 7 ft. Every tray is designed to finish just past the end of the frame for maximum departure angle — a real advantage off‑road.
Base Pricing Includes
Your starting point is the SET Base Deck 72" (1828.8mm) wide × your choice of length
Required components included:
33" tire fenders
Fuel filler standard kit
Tailboard blank panel
Tray‑to‑frame mounting brackets
Plug‑and‑play supplemental wiring with LED DOT lighting, markers, reflectors, and plate light
Modular by Design — Build It Your Way
This is the part that sets SET trays apart. You don’t have to buy the entire system at once. Start with the base deck and add components over time:
Water tank
Drawers
Toolboxes
Storage boxes
Side gates
Headboard
Footboard
Everything bolts on later. No cutting. No rewiring. No re‑engineering.
Your electrical stays plug‑and‑play. Your factory bed outlet can be relocated under the deck or inside an underbody box. Trailer plug, backup camera, sensors, blind‑spot modules — all have relocation brackets included.
Installation
Professional installation is recommended, but capable DIY owners can handle it with a helper or lifting equipment. Estimated install times:
New trucks: 8–10 hours
Older/salt‑exposed trucks: 10–15+ hours
If you ever need to return the truck to stock, the system is designed to make that possible.
Durability & Replacement Parts
Trail damage or accidents don’t total your tray. Every component is modular and replaceable — fenders, panels, brackets, under‑tray accessories, all of it.
Suspension Notes
Not mandatory, but recommended for mid‑size trucks depending on your build plan.
Base deck weights:
Most 5 ft chassis: 225 lbs
Most 6 ft chassis: 260 lbs
Since factory beds weigh 250+ lbs, you’re often reducing weight before adding accessories.
Know your GVWR and plan your build accordingly.
Width Options
All mid‑size trays come standard at 72" (1830mm). 76" and 66" widths are available by request.

Powder Coat Options
We offer powder coating, but recommend using your local coater for best results — especially for full trays being shipped. Smaller components can be coated in‑house. Color matching is attempted but not guaranteed to be 100% exact.
