The supply chain for application‑specific 4.0L OHV pushrods has collapsed. Major suppliers now require 5,000+ unit recurring orders every 60-90 days to even consider producing them.
For a niche engine platform like the Cologne V6, that volume is unrealistic — and the result is that OE‑spec pushrods have become effectively non‑existent in the aftermarket.
Rather than leave builders without a solution, we created one.
To maintain a reliable supply, we start with high‑quality pushrod blanks that meet the correct material and dimensional requirements. From there, each unit undergoes:
Precision machining to achieve the correct 4.0L length and geometry
Drilling of the oil passage through the pushrod body
Re‑hardening and heat‑treating to restore strength after machining
Final inspection to ensure consistent oiling and tip integrity
This is not a generic “close enough” part. It’s a custom‑processed pushrod built to match the needs of the 4.0L OHV valvetrain — especially when paired with Adjustable Roller Rockers roller hydraulic lifters.
The pushrods and rockers on the 4.0L tend to show a lot of wear, even on engines with low miles. We suspect that there are two reasons for this problem: (1) The material in the rockers appears to be too soft, so they wear on the tip, and; (2) there’s not enough oil getting to the pushrod socket, so it gets worn out, too.
The 4.0L OHV rewards careful valvetrain setup. With the right pushrod length, proper oiling, and hardened tips, the engine becomes smoother, quieter, and far more durable — especially under higher spring pressures or extended RPM ranges. Our custom‑machined pushrods ensure correct preload with adjustable rockers improving oil delivery to the rocker socket offering stronger wear resistance than OE and a stable supply chain for future maintenance
This is the modern solution for a classic engine that deserves better than “whatever is left on the shelf.”
