Ignition is a high-spark flint wheel rather than a piezo igniter. Piezo mechanisms are usually the first thing to fail on a cheap lighter, and butane will not vaporize below freezing, but a flint wheel throwing sparks into liquid fuel works in wind, in the cold, and after a soaking. The flint is user-replaceable in under a minute: hold down the flame guard, press out the brass pin, and swap it. Refills take roughly 3 mL of standard lighter fluid, about two capfuls of the smaller cap.
 
The body is machined in the USA from aircraft-grade aluminum and is covered by U.S. Patent No. 10,544,937. It is designed to give reliable service for a lifetime, backed by Exotac's lifetime warranty, and offered in Black, Gunmetal, Olive Drab, and Blaze Orange.
